Here is a historical photo of Greys Avenue from the 1850s or 1860s. This was the main route north out of Auckland - linking with Pitt Street and the Great North Road. The street was renamed Greys Avenue in 1927.

It used to be apart of China town as well where they had gambling, prostitution and opium dens. There is a very dark history to Greys Ave, which used to be Greys Street the oldest street in New Zealand.
